A stunning design by LilyGo, Butterfly Lovers is a wonderful shawlette or cowl, with the option of adding beads.
We offered this once before and it was extremely popular. We wanted to bring it back, this time in new colorways.
Again we are kitting it with a gorgeous yarn from Noro called Sonata, a really delicious blend of cotton and viscose (rayon) with silk and nylon. Which not only is wonderful for showing stitch definition but also perfect for those who need to veer away from animal fibers.
Here is what Lily writes:
Butterfly Lovers is a crescent shaped shawlette worked in DK weight yarn.
You can add a single button and wear it as a cowl.
You just need a single skein of DK weight yarn to make the small size or 2 skeins to make the larger size.
It worked fast and you get yourself a stunning shawlette/cowl perfect for gift or you can keep it for yourself. Pattern includes charts and written directions.
Our yarn is not the same as what Lily used in her original. We show our yarn in the inset photos on the top picture and again below that. (That top photo is a photo-shopped version of one of Lily's shawls, colored to give you an idea of what it would look like in our yarn.)
She recommends DK weight yarn, 270 (540) yards / 250 (500) m to cover the two sizes of the pattern:
Size of Wingspan: 48 (72)“ / 123 (184) cm
Depth: 11 (17)” / 29 (43) cm
Sonata is a DK weight yarn with 393 yards(359 meters) per 100g skein. So one skein would give you the smaller size and two would be plenty for the larger.
We have two colors for you to choose from, both essentially solid colors:
1. Cherry is a rich and vibrant red.
2. Obsidian is a dark and dramatic black.
Each of our kits will include two skeins plus enough beads for the larger of the sizes. If you would prefer making the smaller size, just contact us and I will set you up with a smaller kit.
Beads are optional for this piece though our kits will include enough for the larger size.
That would be 885 size 6/0 beads, which is roughly 73 grams (we'll include a bit more).
I've given an option (via the "Kit" drop-down menu) to get all the beads in one colorway (silver or gold seem to me quite striking) or a mix of colors. I was thinking of a medley of jeweltones on the black in particular as looking very fine indeed.
If you have a further preference on the bead color you want, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern.
I know some knitters will prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Lily via her Ravelry web page. This will save it in your Ravelry library and ensure you get any needed updates as they are released. If you decide on this option, make sure the drop-down menu is set to "No Pattern Needed."
Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, then the "Pattern" drop-down menu should be set to that.
We also can email the pattern to you via email (just be aware that it is not automatic; I have to manually send it to you and generally do that right before I ship).
