Canyon Sunset is an absolutely lovely wrap, knit in brioche style, by Lesley Anne Robinson.
Get your pattern directly from Leslie on her Ravelry page here . What we offer are yarn, as described below, to knit this beauty with.
Here is what Leslie writes:
Canyon Sunset is a rectangular wrap with color blocks of geometric two-color brioche patterns and three-color garter stitch stripes, inspired by the colors at sunset in Palo Duro Canyon, Texas....
This wrap is knit from side to side. It is divided into 6 different sections, alternating between Two-Color Brioche and Three-Color Garter Stitch Stripes.
You will be repeating the same brioche geometric stitch pattern, but switching which yarn colors you will use together. This way, you will get to see all of the different color combinations you can create with just 3 colors of yarn!
You may add or omit pattern repeats to modify the length of your shawl, either in the brioche or garter stitch sections. Be aware this may use more or less yarn than specified.
This pattern is both written and charted, for your convenience!
Yarn and Colorways
What is suggested by Leslie is three colorways of fingering weight yarn. Our yarns and colorways are not the same as what she used in her original. You can see ours in the inset photo on the top picture on this page and again below that.
Choose 3 skeins of fingering weight yarn in 3 different tones for the best results! I chose a light solid, a medium speckle, and a dark solid for my version, but there are no rules at all! You could go with all solids, or all speckles, or a mixture of the two!
We have chosen three colorways of Madeline Tosh's yarn. Each skein has 420 yards (384m).
Our kits will consist of one skein each of the following:
1. In Tosh Mo Light, made up of 80% superwash merino + 20% kid mhoair, the colorwaycalled Gosia. This is a vibrant variegated mix that includes black, charcoal, purple, violet, royal blue and turquoise. It is really a striking look, deep and rich!
2. A light mix of colors, again in Tosh Mo Light, this time in Lamplight. This is mostly cream with some speckles and dashes and splashes of gold and dark chocolate.
3. In Tosh Merino Light, 100% superwash merino, this colorway is Cousteau, a tonal blend of varying teals, some very dark, some lighter andn glowing, some on the blue side and some on the green side.
