A very simple piece that packs quite an Ooooomph!
We found some gorgeous handmade lampwork beads, by an amazing artist named Grace Ma. These combine rich colors and intriguing textures to present beads that are mini-works-of-art.
Plus Grace just developed custom-sized changeable pendant bars, of 5 different sizes to work with her beads. These are lightweight and silver plated .
All that is needed to use these to turn a bead into a pendant or charm is to simply twist one end off (the round part is threaded on and easily can be twisted off). Then one adds the bead and twists it back on.
And it just so happens that she has the perfect beads to fit each of the sizes of bead bars that she offers.
Well, I hardly need to tell you the rest, do I?
I just had to get some of these beads and bead bars in stock.
The ones we show here are the 23mm size, and measure 1 1/2" long end-to-end, including the loop for hanging. It fits perfectly into her 2.5mm bead holes and this one has 23mm of space to hold a bead. And so we explored her stunning Lentil beads which fit perfectly.
Each Lentil has a slightly puffed front and a flat back. The design is on the front only, with the same base color on the back. Each is roughly 1" x 1" in size, with a 2.5mm hole.
We got three bead designs in:
1. Peacock features a lovely raised design of a turquoise-green-blue peacock (with a bit of gold for his beak) on an ivory bead. Quite special.
2. Howling at the Moon makes me smile. There is a grey world on a black rock, surrounded by green fir trees and howling at a while moon in a deep blue sky.
3. Garden is a lovely mix of purple flowers on a pink and rose and purple background with textured green foliage. This is the one you see in the photos of the necklace here.
We offer two possibilities with each bead mix and thread matching the bead you have chosen.
A: Choker-style Necklace: I took our basic bead soup/ bead stew bracelet design, added clamps at each end plus a chain and clasp and added the focal bead to the middle.
Voila! A choker with a great bead as a focal piece.
The first and last photos on this page show the choker as created for the Garden bead.
Each necklace kit will include a spool of thread, at least 35 grams of a bead stew mix created to work with your bead color, the Lentil focal bead of your choice, the bead bar, at least 20" of chain with extra rings to attach everything together plus a simple lobster clasp.
B: Bead Stew Bracelet plus pendant:
If you would like, a few changes to the kit will make a bracelet instead of a necklace.
The basic kit will make a Bead Stew Bracelet. Then you have the large focal bead, with its bead bar which already has a loop to it -- you can thread it onto a chain and have a very elegant pendant to go with your bracelet.
And thus you would have a lovely matching bracelet and pendant. A perfect gift.
The kit for the bracelet set would include thread, beads, a toggle clasp instead of the clamps and rings, plus the focal bead with a long chain and a lobster clasp to finish it off with.
Make your choices via the drop-down menus.
We offer three options for the pattern.
I know some of you might already have made other necklaces and bracelets from us that are made along the same lines. If you feel you do not need another pattern, simply choose "No Pattern Needed."
If you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.
We also can email the pattern to you, though I have to do it manually and usually send it right before I mail the kit (please be patient). Just make sure that drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out.
