Clair de Lune is an intriguing but simple pattern created by Nim Teasdale. What I find especially appealing is that Nim writes patterns so that they can be customized easily to your personal vision. Most allow you to choose from varying weights of yarn; most allow for optional beads; and most allow you to make it any size you want by continuing a design within the pattern for as long as suits you or changing it in any way you so desire.
Here is how Nim herself describes it:
Clair de Lune is the first in the Light Cycle Collection, inspired by the changing moods of light over a 24 hour period, and plays with the concept of light as both a wave and a particle, through the contrasting textures of each shawl.
This is a very relaxing knit which uses a simple mesh which flows into a rhythmic wave edging, allowing the yarn to do all the work.
Both sections can be extended to any size or yardage.
Beads can be added randomly to the mesh, like a spray of stars, to add a hint of decadence.
The pattern is both written and charted, with pattern worked rows on the right side only.
It needs roughly 200 - 500 yards (183 - 457 m) fingering weight.
