I am in awe!

This stunning piece, another by Miriam L Felton, was originally published in The Twist Collective's Fall 2008 issue.

Here is what Miriam writes:

"This shawl is named after Cleite, one of the fabled Amazons of the ancient world, who accompanied the Amazon queen, Penthesilea, to the Trojan War.

"Designed with a simple stitch pattern, the placement of the decreases creates a scalloped line when bound off without adding a separate edging. That makes this a perfect shawl for handspun, as you can bind off whenever you run out of yarn."

I think that last bit is especially intriguing -- I like the idea that I am in total control of how large the shawl will be and how much yarn I'll be using.
