Be Confident is a most interesting cowl, by Hanna Maciejewska.
Please note you should get the pattern directly from her through her Ravelry Page here.
This web page is simply for the exact yarn she used for her original piece, in the your choice of colorway.
Do you feel intimidated sometimes and think: “That’s too hard for me, I couldn’t possibly be able to achieve that”?
Well, “Be Confident” because many things are a lot easier when you actually try them as they had seemed on first glance.
The stitch pattern in this generously proportioned cowl, which I immediately fell in love with when I found it online, looks like a complicated shell stitch, but is actually quite easy to make. Just try it!.
The Yarn and Colorway
The yarn that she used is Malabrigo's Rios, 210 yards/ 100g skein of 100% merino. What is required is three skeins as you need about 550 yards for the smaller size and 600 yards for the larger.
We have two colorways you an choose from:
Plomo is the one that Hanna used for her original. A pale somewhat greyed purple, this is a tonal almost-solid.
Cumparsita is a dramatically rich deep wine color, again a tonal almost-solid.
And I wanted to offer an additional idea!
Normally I don't suggest beads with DK weight yarn as they are usually a bit too small to work well.
This time, though, I found some great 3/0 beads from Toho with a square hole (though the bead itself is round), in a color they call Silver Lined Amethyst. The square hole means there are a few more facets to capture the light -- they glow in a most lovely fashion. The color is a rich red-violet that happens to look wonderful with both the Plomo and the Cumparsita.
And so we have added an option to the drop-down menu so (if you would like) you can get about 20g of these beads with your order.
That will give you roughly 120 beads that you can add where you would like.
