Conflagration is a most intriguing design by Kim McBrien Evans .  Perfect for variegated yarns that have been dip-dyed into sections of color between 3" and 5" long, the pattern makes for a most awesome scarf.

The pattern should be gotten directly from the designer on her Ravelry page here.  Our web page offers the yarn only.

Important note: This pattern is charted.  If you prefer written directions, Kim's Impervious is quite similar and allows for a larger wrap, using anywhere between 2 and 4 skeins of yarn.

Here is what Kim, the awesome designer, writes:

Optical Delusion: Conflagration is intended to be knit using colourways with 7-13 cm/3-5 inch lengths of colour. These colourways tend to pool in awkward and unusual ways. The combination of garter stitch and short rows push and pull the colours through the scarf to create random, flame-like patterns.

Yarn and Colorways

We do not have kits made up of the same yarn as Kim's original pieces.  You can see our offering in the inset photos on the top picture and again below that.

Our yarn is from Manos del Uruguay and is called Alegria.  This is a 445 yard (405m)/ 100g skein made up of 75% superwash merino + 25% nylon.

Take a look here at other knitter's Conflagrations knit with Alegria.

Our kits consist simply of one skein of Alegria in the colorway Agave.

This is a rich and striking coloray including rich purples and teals -- dark and lightening to almost fuchsia, and teal blue to teal green.  I photographed it opened up as well as skeined so you can see how the color spans work in this one.
