What a happy design!
By Teri B., Conversation With Smaug is sure to brighten up those gloomy winter days.
Please get your pattern directly from Teri on her Ravelry page here. What we put together is the yarn to make this with.
Here is what the designer writes:
Conversation with Smaug (CwS for short) is an oversized cowl knit in the round.
It is inspired by the Hobbit and more precisely an illustration J.R.R. Tolkien made for the book.
It is made using modified brioche stitches that create a scale-like pattern (without having to do stranded colorwork – only stripes). The pattern is also reversible: the ‘wrong side’ looks like a woven, almost polka dot fabric.
CwS can be worn thrown on your shoulders like a shawl – with or without a shawl pin for two different looks – or wrapped twice around your neck – the fit will be snug enough that it’ll keep the cold & wind out.
From both of these points you can pull a fold of fabric from CwS and turn it into a sizable hood.
Yarn and Colorways
The cowl in the pictures was made using Malabrigo Worsted in 096 Sunset and 41 Burgundy.
Instead, we brought in yarn also from Malabrigo, a new one called Washted. The label says, "A superwash version of the classic Worsted Merino base. While remaining true to the original softness of Wrosted, we 'washed it' so you an too, allowing more freedom and ease of care."
Each skein is 100% superwash merino wool, with 210 yards (192m)/ 100g.
We brought in Sunset, a golden amber that is absolutely glowing.
And instead of Burgundy, we have Cereza, a deep red that is rich and with great depth.
Two skeins of each colorway will make up your kit (2 + 2 = 4).
