Cottonoro is an intriguing design by Brian Smith that uses the long color runs of Noro yarns to great effect!

Please get your pattern directly from the designer on his Ravelry page here What we have put together are sets of yarn that you can use to create this beauty.

The Design

Here is what Brian writes:

This is my fourth design using this particular shawl construction. This time using a beautiful cotton blend yarn from Noro.

Triangles are worked sideways with simple increases to make bigger triangles as you work towards the centre. Two panels of triangles are then joined together using a three needle bind off. Stitches are then picked up along both of the long edges to work borders.

Yarn and Colorways

We tried to get as close as we could to the yarn that Brian used for his original.  Unfortunately the colorway he chose in the Enka yarn is no longer available so we chose another.  The contrast color/yarn is the exact match to his.

You can see what we offer in the inset photo on the top picture and again below that. The other photos show Brian's original piece so you can get an idea of the design itself.

Brian used as his color-changing yarn the cotton blend DK weight yarn named Enka, with 550 yards per 200g ball made up of 50% Cotton+ 20% Silk+ 15% Wool+ 15% Nylon.

We also brought in Enka. Our colorway is #1 Toyama, a happy melody of long color runs -- I see peach, gold, blue, pink, green and amber.

Brian also used a Silk Garden Solo to create the lines in the piece.  Our kit also includes a Silk Garden Solo (45% Mohair + 45% Silk + 10% Wool.;109 yards/ 50g).  We brought in the same colorway:#59 Chikuma, a dark charcoal contrasts beautifully with the Enko.

One ball of Enka plus one skein of Silk Garden Solo will make up each kit.
