A really lovely beaded piece by Sivia Harding. Here is how she describes it:
Crescendo is an asymmetrically shaped shawl that is guaranteed to hold your interest from start to finish.
The upper section is a ram’s horn shape that is worked side to side. Stitches are picked up along the bottom edge and the beaded ruffle is worked downward. This shawl combines the best of garter stitch, cables, lace, and beads in a showstopping design.
I hope you enjoy every stitch!
The yarn we selected for this kit is not the same as the one Sivia used. Hers was the yarn called "Sexy" by the Buffalo Wool Company, with 50% Bison and 50% Silk. She says in the pattern that what is needed is about 800 yards of a lace weight yarn
We are offering The Alpaca Company's Shire (dyed in Suri Elegance (875 yards/ 100g of 100% Suri Alpaca).
This is a unique colorway that was dyed in small batches as a special limited offering. It is a gorgeous tonal not-quite-solid yarn composed of greens, some warm and some cool, some deep and some lighter. All in a beautiful whole...
For the beads, one needs size 8/0 seed beads, 418.
The original sample used transparent beads for a more subtle look; we can give you beads that will blend in to the yarn, beads that will stand out and yell, or beads that are somewhere in the middle. If you have a preference, let me know. Otherwise I will choose for you.
Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern.
I know some knitters prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Sivia via her Ravelry web page. In that case, make sure the drop-down menu is set to "No Pattern Needed."
Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, then the "Pattern" drop-down menu should be set to that.
We also can email the pattern to you via email (just be aware that it is not automatic; I have to manually send it to you and generally do that right before I ship).
Gorgeous! A tremendously interesting project.
