This design is catch-your-breath-gorgeous!

By Alla Borisova, Crystal Dew is a half circle shawl knitted top down. The stitchwork is awesome!

Yarns and Colorways

Alla knit her original one with two strands of cobweb lace held together.  What we have put together are your choice of a few heavier lace weight yarns, any of which will look great.

The Project Pages show beautiful shawls, most knit using between 700 and 800 yards of lace weight.

Kits A and B are composed of a delicious pure mulberry silk yarn from Jupiter Moon Farm called Aine.  Each skein is 327 yards/ 50g of 100% silk.  Our kits will include three skeins so you will have a total of 981 yards to work with.

Kit A is the colorway called Summer Cloud and is a lovely creamy white.

Kit B is African Violet and as it suggests is a lovely lilac color.

Kit C is made up of Lunar from Shibui Knits, a 60% extra fine merino/ 40% mulberry silk.  Each skein has 401 yards (365m) and we will include two skeins in each kit, giving you a total of 802 yard.  If you would like a third one, simply contact us and we'll work out a larger set for you.

The colorway is Imperial, a rich and striking red-violet.

Please note that the base price listed on this web page is for Kit C.  If you would like Kits A or B, you will notice on the drop-down menu an addition to the cost.

Beads

There are not a specified number of beads for the pattern though beads are definitely an option.

Our basic kit is yarn only.

I went through the Project pages to find how knitters used beads for this and how many

Some knitters used the larger size 6/0s , mostly at the bind-off, around 30 grams.  Some knitters used the smaller 8/0s beads throughout, about 60g or roughly 2400 beads.  Some used both, the smaller 8/0s as tiny dew drops on the expanse of the shawl and the bind-off with the 6/0s, making beaded picots.

See our drop-down menu labeled Kits for what we offer here, for getting the kit as yarn only, as yarn with 6/0s (will include 35g or about 400+ beads), as yarn with 8/0s (will include 35g, which is about 1,400 8/0s), and as yarn with both (20g of 6/0s or about 240 beads plus 25g 8/0s or about 1,000 beads)
