This is stunning.

Daphnaie is a lovely shawlette, designed by Tori Gurbisz, that literally made me catch my breath when I saw it.

Here is what she says about it:

"A beautiful and lacey shawlette worked at a loose gauge for a wonderful drape. Named for the Daphnaie, nymphs of the laurel tree, in Greek Mythology. Varying lace and leaf patterns echo the forest where the nymphs dance around their trees and the leaves they adorn themselves with."

Both written and charted instructions are included and Tori rates it at Intermediate skill level needed.

What it calls for is simply about 440 yards of merino wool in a fingering weight yarn.

Note that the original yarn used here was Malabrigo Yarn Sock, a 100% merino wool with 440 yards/ 100 grams. However, when I queried Tori she mentioned that some of her test knitters actually ran out of yarn with one skein and so she suggested that we offer it in a yarn that gave more yardage.

We love it with a wide variety of fingering weight yarns, though with the intricacy of stitch-work, I think a solid or almost-solid would be best.

This patter is offered as a hard copy only -- printed on heavy paper, slid into a sheet protector, and mailed out. Take advantage of our great yarns to make-your-own-kit at the same time.
