Oh this is a lovely one!

It doesn't have beads as part of the pattern, but I can envision sparkling ones highlighting each diamond, either a subtle few at the edgings or going full "bling" ahead, and scattering them throughout!

But I am getting ahead of myself here. Chrissy Prange, the genius who created this, talks about the Diamonte Crescent shawl thusly:

Diamonte is a crescent shaped shawl knit in one piece from the center-top outward. It is shaped by all the increasing done on the edging. With both charts and written instructions, knitters are able to choose the most comfortable way to follow the pattern.

Marvelous!

For yarn, all you will need is about. 450 yards of fingering weight yarn. The Test Knitters used anywhere from 437 yards to 521 yards total, depending on gauge.

The sample one that you see photographed here was knit using Cephalopod Yarns Skinny Bugga 80% merino/10% cashmere/10% nylon with 424 yards/113 grams -- the total yardage used was 409 yards/109 grams. We don't carry that brand but we have other really delicious fingering weight yarns that would look great with this.

The needles used here were US size 5 (3.75 mm), 32-inch circular or length preferred for weight of yarn and to get a gauge of 26 sts/36 rows = 4 inches in stockinette. Bear in mind though that exact gauge is not important but do note that a looser gauge will result in the use of more yardage.

Finished Size of the one you see here was 46” across (opening wider because it was blocked with a curve) by 16” down spine.

We offer on this web page the printed out hard copy of the pattern -- all 7 pages printed on heavy weight paper and slid into a sheet protector. Then you can create your own kit by going to our Fingering Weight yarn section and pick out a beauty to create with -- we suggest a solid or an almost-solid.

Joy!
