A really sweet design by Bev of Boo Knits, Dragonfly Wings is a simple piece which can be knit with one skein -- plus beads!
The pattern is free and you can find it (and download it for yourself) on this Ravelry page.
Here is what the awesome designer writes:
A versatile, wide, shallow, triangular shawl/wrap that can be worn in a variety of ways.
A very quick to knit item that would make a stylish addition to your wardrobe or a wonderful gift for a friend.
The main body of this shawl is made up of stocking stitch with garter stitch ridges.
The top down construction and wide increases create the wing-like dimensions and the lace border ensures the shawl has a very romantic and slightly Victorian feel.
The option of adding beads (about 275) gives you the opportunity to make this as glamorous as you desire and yet is still easy enough for a relative beginner to enjoy.
The Yarn and Colorways
We do not offer the exact yarn that Bev used for her original piece though a number of other knitters used this yarn for their shawl (as can be seen on the Project Pages).
This is from Katia and called Air Lux. Made up of 70% viscose and 30% virigin wool, each ball has 328 yards/ 50g. It has a truly awesome sheen to it.
And as the design itself calls for only 306 - 350 yards (280 - 320 m), you should be fine with one (if you want two contact me and we'll work it out or, even easier, just get two kits).
We have two colorways for you to choose between.
Silver is just what it sounds like, a lovely silver-y look. It almost looks like a true metallic, which is amazing for a soft fiber.
Teal is a rich and vibrant blue teal. This is the blue-green of a male mallard's head or a very calm lake.
As you can see from some of the photos of Bev's original pieces, beads look great with this and though they are optional, we will be including them in each kit.
Each kit will include at least 300 size 6/0 beads. If you have a preference on color, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
