We have expanded the kit offerings for this marvelous scarf!

This yarn that will allow you to make quite a large dragon to wrap yourself in -- bringing warmth and many smiles.

The Design

By Nim Teasdale, here is what she writes about The Dragon's Tale:

The Dragon’s Tale can be a simple scarf, or a fierce protector of the neck.

It can be worked as a long, narrow crescent, or slightly deeper, or even adapted to a rectangle with a lovely wavy border along the bottom.

Or for the true dragon fans, add the head and tail sections to create your own pet dragon that will snuggle warmly round your neck and peer imperiously at strangers, or flick its tail in warning if someone gets too close..

*****

I love it!

Nim also notes that this design uses minimal lacework - each row has a single increase and decrease in each row of the border, creating the rippling, sinuous edge. Plus it uses a very simple integrated I cord edge, formed by slipping the first three sts.

The Dragon’s Head is shaped mostly with cables, and is included in the pattern in its own PDF. You will have a choice to create a head-to-tail dragon, or simply a dragon scaled scarf (the pattern includes both).

Yarn and Colorways

This great piece was designed so it can be knit in a variety of yarn weights from heavy fingering, DK or worsted weight yarn..

I love the idea of using yarns that change color as one works across the dragon.

Here is one more colorway in a sport/DK weight , dyed into large-ish sections of color.

From Universal Yarn, this is a new addition to their yarn family called Colorburst.  Made up of 65% superwash merino + 35% acrylic, each giant 200 gram ball will give you 660 yards (600m).

*****

Peacock has warmth to it, with gold and aqua, sky blue and a bit of charcoal.

Aurora Borealis is a blend of cool teals, purples and charcoal.

And as a special addition, we will be including at least two fire polish crystals with each kit, most likely more. You might choose to use them as eyes for His Greatness (the dragon, of course) or perhaps simply as embellishments elsewhere (his tail perhaps?) or not at all. Your choice.

Plus! While supplies last we have for each kit two button "eyes" for you as well!

The Pattern

Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern (which is both written and charted).

I know some knitters prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Nim via her Ravelry web page. In that case, make sure the drop-down menu is set to "No Pattern Needed."

Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, then the "Pattern" drop-down menu should be set to that.

We also can email the pattern to you via email (just be aware that it is not automatic; I have to manually send it to you and usually do it right before I ship your kit).
