This beauty, by Julia Decker, combines a lot of my favorite knitting.
You should get your pattern directly from Julia on her Ravelry page. Our kit is yarn only.
To quote Julia:
Dream Lake is located in Rocky Mountain National Park in the state of Colorado. The peaceful beauty of a snowy day at the lake inspired this cowl, a soft comfortable warm luxury for cold days.
This cowl incorporates fun textures, some simple lace and even a little brioche to create this beautiful alpine scene. Some familiarity with brioche and brioche decreases is recommended!
Yarn and Colorways
We have put together kits that will allow you to knit this. What Julia suggests are fingering weight yarns, four colors plus a main color but each needing only about 87 yards each.
Note that we did not use the same yarns or colors as the original. You can see our kit offerings in the inset photo on the top picture and again below it.
The kit as set up here will include one Quintet from Lorna's Laces.
Each consists of 5 mini-skeins of Shepherd Sock as curated by Lorna's Laces. This is 80% merino/ 20% nylon.
These are packaged in lovely sets. Each set has a total of 535 yards(489 meters)/ 125 grams, each small skein having roughly 107 yards.
Oboe: Beautiful colors including a steel gray, a goldenrod, a turquoise, a sky blue, and a very pale pistachio.
The pale pistachio is so pale it is almost cream and I feel it would look great acting as the MC between the other colors and forming the "trees."
These colors will, of course, give a different look. Julia's original used colors that (except for the MC) were all of the same tones. I love how the goldenrod here will stand out and really sing of sunshine while the blue and turquoise and steel will more closely mirror the colors of a lake.
