Only one colorway left!
I just had to put together another set of kits for this beautiful Early Morning Rain Shawl!
Mindy Ross is the amazing designer of this most unusual shawl. Talk about keeping your interest as you knit!
Called Early Morning Rain, this is really a favorite of mine.
Here is what Mindy writes about it:
"Early Morning Rain” is a dynamic abstract crescent shawl/scarf, knitted with a combination of texture, beads, and varying stitches, with a little flair of fringe thrown in. But don’t think tassel fringe, think knitted fringe.
This ‘thingie’ is to be read like your favorite book, with each chapter bringing on its own delightful portion of the ‘novel’, until the final ending that you create.
This lovely textural design grows into something you can throw on at a moment’s notice, with jeans and a sweater, or it can embellish your lovely evening attire.
Mindy goes on to explain that gauge isn’t important. The design will vary, depending on your needle size paired up with your flavor of yarn choice. So really, you have tremendous choices with knitting this.
This kit is intended as one option which will start you on a fun fun fun journey.
Yarn and Colorways
The yarn in the sample shawls you would find on Mindy's Ravelry pages are knit with fingering weight --- anywhere from 425 yds. (389 meters) to 600 yds. (549 meters).
Our kits are not made up of the same yarn as Mindy used. You can see our yarns in the inset photo in the lower righthand corner of top picture and again below that.
What we have put together for these kits is a brand-new yarn from Skacel. Concentric Cotton is a heavy fingering/ sport weight yarn made up of 100% super-soft pima cotton.
Now, being cotton, bear in mind that it won't have the kind of memory that wool gives but it has amazingly vibrant colors and will work perfectly for the warmer weather.
It is perfect for drapey shawls, especially as there is over 900 yards in each pre-wound ball (specifically 929 yards per 200 gram cake).
So one cake would be perfect for this design!
We have only one colorway left:
#2003: Aquatic: A song to the sea, ranging from aqua into gold into a slightly paler aqua and then a rich teal.
Beads are optional for this design but will definitely be part of your kit!
In this design, they can range from none to 1,000.
Most of the knitters chose size 6/0 though Mindy's golden sample here used 5/0 triangles. There are so many beads that will look great here -- if you don't have a preference, I'll be glad to choose for you.
We will be including two 35g (+ or -) containers of size 6/0, which will give you about 800 beads in each kit.
Contact me if you would prefer to have the full 1,000 on hand.
And let me quote Mindy again here:
All information are just ‘guidelines’ for you. Please feel free to experiment, as the pattern is YOUR freedom template, to try what you may be most comfortable with and the look you desire.
I love the idea! Make your own true creation.
Note also that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. The price of the pattern has not been factored into the cost you see here.
I know some knitters prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Mindy via her Ravelry web page. In that case, make sure the drop-down menu is set to "No Pattern Needed."
Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, then the "Pattern" drop-down menu should be set to that. The pattern is written out only (no charts) and lengthy (17 pages), giving line-by-line instruction~ showing a photo gallery as well.
We also can email the pattern to you via email (just be aware that it is not automatic; I have to manually send it to you and usually do that right before I ship the kit).
Let me make it clear that if I email you the pattern, it will not be added to your Ravelry library; if that is where you would like it saved, then please get it directly from Mindy as noted above.
I am so delighted to be able to offer this!
