We were able to get some of a very limited edition yarn from Schoppel in a lace yarn with long color runs that works up simply beautifully.

This yarn is really special.  Skacel wrote and offered us what they called an exclusive and very limited edition creation from Schoppel Wolle.

This is Edition 6 Hanf, a 90% merino extrafine superwash/ 10% hemp with 330 yards per 50g ball.

Here is what they wrote to me:

I love Edition 6, but what makes the addition of Hemp so special?" Great question! Hemp is three times stronger than cotton, making it unbelievably durable. It is also anti-microbial and UV-resistent. Hemp readily takes dye, which means that each colorway will be that much more vibrant. And, it softens with each washing - increasing the suppleness of an already airy fiber.

These might not ever be repeated so if one sings to you, please be aware of that.

We have brought in all four colorways, each with long color runs.  The yarn is plied and the colors change gradually giving a really special look.

1.  #2353 sings of the flowers of spring:  bright spring green, yellow, pink, and sky blue. (Sorry, sold out)

2.  #2354 reminds me of the woods of summer, with the deeper greens of the forest canopy, turuqoise of the sky, pink, rose and magenta of flowers and a bit of golden brown as well. (Sorry, sold out)

 3.  #2356 I see as sunrise, the delicate hues of dawn.  Plaer sky blue as well as richer, pale pink and also rose, some black of the nightsky as well.

4.  #2358 is more reminiscent of winter, with primarily browns, rusts and gold, icy blue and deep blue.   (Sorry, sold out)

Pattern Suggestions!

There are so very many patterns that this would look great with.

I love, from Boo-Knits, her beaded Changeling.  The yarn would do all the color work for you -- two balls would be enough -- plus some glowing beads to make it amazing.

I also like this yarn with Svetlana Gordon's Scarf Dryad.  You'd need a solid color lace weight yarn for the outlines but this one would give you a really special look for the leaves.  Two balls of one of these looks like it would serve you very well.

Tripartite is a very unusal piece by Stephen West.  If you look in the project pages you will see some knit with yarns with long color runs -- these yarns could give you a very fine look indeed.

And!  Free Patterns!

A great free knitting pattern you could get here requires two balls of yarn.  This Gathered Scarf Pattern is a fun and quick knit.

Alternatively: if crochet is more your speed, Johanna Lindahl's ever-popular Lost in Time Shawl works amazingly well with this yarn, takes four balls, and is a complimentary download from Ravelry!
