In this great little project, Jennifer Dassau has created a neat pair of fingerless mittens, with a wondrous yarn plus beads! A perfect pairing indeed!

The Design

Jennifer describes them as:

Steampunk inspired fingerless mitts with beaded, scalloped French cuff.

The cuff is knit flat, then joined in the round to knit the garter stitch hand. Decorative buttons add personal style and close the cuff.

Yarn and Colorway

Our yarn is not the same as what Jennifer used in her original pieces. You can see ours in the inset photo on the top picture on this page and again below that.

All that is needed is fingering weight yarn, 210 - 260 yards (192 - 238 m), and size 6/0 beads (96 of them) plus some neat buttons to finish it all off with.

Our yarn is Moonshine Fine from Juniper Moon, a truly delicious feeling yarn made up of 30% Baby Alpaca + 30% Wool + 25% Nylon +15% Silk and with 437 yards/ 100g.

Can you just imagine how delicious it feels?

The colorway is called Sno Cone and is a lovely red.

One skein will allow you to make any of the sizes in the pattern:

Beads

To make the cuffs as seen here you will also want  96 size 6/0 seed beads.  We will include extras.

The ones I sprinkled on the yarn for the photograph are Silver Lined Crystal ABs.  These give quite a festive look to the mitts.  Gold beads would also be very holiday-esque.

We have set up a drop-down menu to offer you options for bead colors.  If you have a particular color bead in  mind, please tell me  -- I think these would look quite striking with gold, silver, red, green, or whatever.

If you don't tell me a color, I will choose for you.

Note also that to duplicate the look that Jennifer shows, you will also want four small ball buttons, size 5mm recommended  (not in kit).

****

Your kit will include one skein of Moonshine Fine in Sno Cone plus at least 10g of size 6/0 beads.

The Pattern

Note also that the kit will not automatically include the pattern.  The price of the pattern has not been factored into the cost you see here.

I know some knitters will prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Jennifer via her Ravelry web page. In that case, make sure the drop-down menu is set to "No Pattern Needed."

Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, then the "Pattern" drop-down menu should be set to that.

We also offer the pattern as a downloadable PDF.
