I am really delighted again offer kits for this lovely Mindy Ross design.
Here is how Mindy describes Eternal Optimist:
What’s in a recipe?
When fingers itch to create, it’s so delightful to have a myriad of ways to scratch that itch. Whether it’s playing with ingredients to make the most decadent dessert or planting seeds for germination.
And in this case?
A combination of both, delicious yarns with a splash of beads, placed with loving care. You’ll ooh & ahh as your fabric recipe comes to life.
This long and narrow ‘thingie’ will delight bakers, gardeners, and fabric connoisseurs alike. Get your gardening gloves on, your favorite mixing bowl out, and begin a magical journey with your thoughts and creativity. Your needles will delight you.
Your colorways and crystals will excite you, as your journey brings you to the most enchanting fabric results.
~Enjoy YOUR Journey~
Another desirable ‘thingie’ created for the energetic beginner/intermediate knitter, who loves to challenge their expertise.
And a bit of added data:
VERY POINTY needles tips are STRONGLY suggested. This ‘thingie’ starts with “seed pods” (dangles) and continues to flourish into details of delightful growth. Interesting stitches along with optional beading, never boring and always anticipating the next bevy of stitch design.
The Yarn and Colorway
This is not the same yarn nor colorway that Mindy used in her original. You see our kits in the inset photo on the top picture and agian right below it.
Many of the yarns that Mindy suggests for this design are gradiently-dyed but not all and the addition of beads and intriguing stitches makes for a unique knitting experience with other yarns as well. Take a look at the Project Pages to get some ideas of the looks that are possible.
Mindy recommends roughly 610 - 750 yards (558 - 686 m) of yarn for this. Our yarn is from Malabrigo, their 100% silk Mora. Each skein has 225 yards and so we are including three skeins in each kit.
1. English Rose is a tonal blend of varying rose hues, from pink into fuchsia.
2. Sunset is a glorious golden color, the color of sunflowers in a summer field.
3. Pearl Ten is a dark eggplant-gray blend, an almost solid that is a great neutral.
Your kit will include a bit more than the 750 size 6/0 beads needed (well, the beads are optional, so "needed" is a relative term).
f you don't have a preference for your bead color, let me choose for you. I usually go with beads that mirror to some degree the color of the yarn; if I cannot find any that appeal to me for one of these, I might go for a dramatic contrast.
First of all, we just wanted to mention that the pattern is written out only, no charts.
I know some knitters prefer to get the pattern directly from Mindy via her Ravelry web page. This will give you a copy in your Ravelry library. In this case, set the drop-down menu above to "No Pattern Needed." This will also ensure that you receive any updates automatically.
If you would prefer a printed copy or a PDF via email, please select that option via the "Pattern" drop-down menu. The PDF file will be emailed right before your kit is shipped.
