Oh, what a lovely knit, full of color and so pretty!
By Simone of WOLLWERK, this is aptly named Fairy's Wing and can be knit with as little as 40g of yarn.
Get your pattern directly from the designer on her Ravelry page here. We offer the yarn as described below only.
You can see the yarn we have for this kit in the inset photos on the top picture here and again below that. The other photos show Simone's original wrap and are here with her permission to show you the design.
Here is what Simone writes:
In old celtic and nordic legends the fairies are ethereous figures. They are similar to humans but perfect in every aspect, strong in health and mental power, friendly, helpful, very shy and unearthly beautiful.
Thinking about those friendly and luminous persons I created Fairy’s Wing.
May it bring to you some of those good things and cover you with friendly warmth and beauty.
There are two modifications in the pattern: one is for a smaller piece and one is for a larger one.
In any case, the pattern is written so that you can knit with whatever yarn you choose and continue to your desired length.
If you prefer to bigger needles than recommended for your yarn the design will be lacier, more ethereal.
Simone also suggests that one might also embellish it with beads or add crocheted ornaments.
The Yarn and Colorways
The sample shown on this page wa knitted with: Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball100. The yarn is 100% Virgin Superwash Wool [Hand Dyed] with 437 yards per 100 gram ball.
The wrap as knit used only 40g of the ball and measures (after blocking) 66” x 9”.
We have another very slightly different Zauberball cousin to offer here in two distinctly different colorways.
Zauberball Crazy has two strands of the main ply dyed individually and then twisted together to make for a very striking self-striping multi-colored pattern. The ball has 459 yards/ 100g.
One colorway we offer here is called Kleiner Fuchs, which translates to "Little Fox". It is a very rich blend of colors, with gold, orange, and red primarily with also some greens and teals included.
The other colorway is Charisma, a rich and dark beauty with blacks and magentas blending one into the next.
Sure, if you would like! The pattern doesn't call for them and you would have to decide where to put them but we are offering a 20g container of size 6/0 beads (about 240) if you would like to play.
They could be selected with an eye to mirroring a color in the yarn you have chosen. Alternatively they could be a dramatic contrast. If you have a preference, let me know.
