Nim Teasdale has come up with another of her great "travel" patterns, designed with simplicity and elegance.

The Design

Here is how Nim describes Feeling Groovy

Feeling Groovy is a zigzagging triangle which invites the knitter to get a little creative.

Can be worked either in full garter or ‘half garter’ (garter ridges)

Pattern includes 3 different endings: straight, diagonal zigzag or sawtoothed.

Suitable for any yardage of lace to worsted weight yarn.

Fully written and charted Ideal for those special skeins that are too irresistible to leave behind in the shop and need a simple pattern to let them shine.

Long colour run gradients, handspun, variegateds and striping yarns, or two complementary solids suit this well. Try working from both ends of a gradient ball by winding off half and working from the middle.

Designed with travel knitting in mind, it uses a short formula which is easy to memorise so you can knit on the bus, the train, or while chatting at knit night. Play with pairing a solid yarn with a variegated, or two contrasting colours, or knitting a gradient yarn from both ends.

The Yarns

We have taken Nim's yarn suggestions to heart and though these kits won't give you the exact look of her original they will give you something that will sing as well. Her shawl as pictured here was knit with about 1 1/2 balls of Zauberball Starke 6 (75% wool/ 25% nylon)  in a colorway called Buntmetall (Bright Metal).

Our kits also use Zauberball Starke 6 but in a different colorway:  one called Zimtschnecke (I have been told it translates to what we would call a cinnamon bun).  It has deep maroon and magenta with some black and navy and a warm rusty brown.

We are including only one ball in each kit -- that gives 400m/ 150g.

Paired with it we are including two balls of Debbie Bliss Rialto DK (100% wool with 116 yards/ 50g) in the colorway called Berry.  This picks up on the maroon in the Zauberball so there will be both contrasting and blending, as happened with Nim's piece as well.

So these kits will give you about 772 yards of yarn to "play" with.

The Pattern

Note also that the kit will not automatically include the pattern.

I know some knitters prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Nim.  You can simply get this one pattern or go for the entire e-book.  This will ensure you get any future updates as well as store the pattern(s) in your Ravelry library.  If you decide on that, make sure the drop-down menu is set to "No Pattern Needed."

Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, then the "Pattern" drop-down menu should be set to that.

We also can email the pattern to you via email (just be aware that it is not automatic; I have to manually send it to you and usually do it right before I ship your kit).
