We are simply thrilled that we found these daggers again for this beautiful bracelet. That's the good news.
The bad news is that the company that manufactured these intriguing tie-dyed beauties went out of business. I bought up all that my importer had in stock, but once these are gone, they will truly be gone.
The hardest part of this bracelet was choosing a name for it. We thought we'd call it Dragon Scales as it is brilliant and rich and glowing -- but we have a yarn colorway called that, and why get confusing.
So here we present, in a wonderful variation on our Flying Feathers Bracelets, a bevy of beautiful Flamenco Dancers, shifting and swaying as you move!
The bracelet started out, as most do, with an amazingly lovely find. We found some of rather large daggers in the 7x14mm size, that are dyed using a technique called Tye Dye. I see red and amber and copper and other lovely swirls on a large dagger base. Wow! Such a striking color medley with reds and yellows and brilliant hues all singing together. (The ones we just got in stock are a bit more coppery than the originals -- they can be seen on the last photo on this page --- but definitely the same family.)
With the original piece, I had decided to play on the redness and threaded them on a red metallic tapestry braid thread, alternating the daggers with both yellow/gold and red 8/0 beads, in a rhythmic pattern.
The two colors of 8/0 beads form their own design in amongst the larger daggers -- sort of a vibrant game of peek-a-boo!
We are really pleased with the look here and think you will love this one!
The original was finished up with a gunmetal clasp ---however, the kits we offer here might have a different clasp: we also have this style in a copper tone or perhaps a toggle clasp instead. Let me choose from what we have in stock that looks good with the rest.
The kit will include a minimum of 63 dagger beads, a few grams each of two contrasting 8/0 beads, a clasp and a spool of thread (red or gold; again if you have a preference, let me know). Plus your choice of whether or not you would like the pattern.
The pattern is the same as for all of the Flying Feather Bracelets -- you have the option to get it or not via the drop-down menu.
Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. We offer three options. I know some of you might already have made other bracelets that are made along the same lines, the only real changes being the beads and the colors. If you feel you do not need another pattern, simply choose "No Pattern Needed."
If you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.
We also can email the pattern to you, though I have to do it manually and usually send it right before I mail the kit (please be patient). Just make sure that drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out.
This kit will have enough supplies so you can make a bracelet 8" in length. If you need your bracelet to be larger, please email me ahead of time to check for availability.
What a wonderful dancing bracelet for the wrist!
