An absolutely gorgeous new pattern from Ellene Warren --- this one is a real keeper!
Worked lengthwise in strips, each row of linked, crocheted flowers begins and ends with dangling flower fringe on this funky and colorful scarf.
Make it extra long to fold in half and loop around your neck like a cascading jabot of flowers or shorten it to a more traditional length – either way you will enjoy the cheerful whimsy of this unique accessory.
The pattern specifies 500 yards of a sport weight hand painted yarn OR kid mohair -- it can also be done successfully with yarn a tad thinner or a tad heavier.
And other options exist -- you can make each strip of the scarf a different colorway or you can choose to add beads to the fringes, either between the flowers or in their centers -- in which case figure on at least 70 crystal beads, a sewing needle and thread to match the yarn.
You might even want to just use the fringe to embellish a plain scarf.
We are offering an option of purchasing 4mm fire polish crystals, more than enough to embellish this with glory, plus a Big Eye needle to help the sewing, at an additional cost. See drop-down menu. The crystals will be Crystal AB, Silver, or Crystal Marea, each of them a lovely neutral, unless you tell me otherwise.
This is a crochet pattern, and the hook suggested is US G/ 4mm.
Really unique -- quite a piece of art to wear around your neck.
And a new bit of data from Ellene Warren, our amazing designer: these can be made with fingering weight yarn!
To quote: "Fingering weight yarn will result in a shorter, narrower version, but can be adjusted by adding more flowers between the fringes and adding one more strip before working the final strip. Additional yarn would be required if the same dimensions are desired in fingering weight yarn."
So the sky's the limit! (well, almost). A great pattern to have fun with!
