A lovely design by Mary White this shawl is simple enough for beginning lace knitters while having interest for more experienced ones.

To quote Mary:

"Forte’ is knit from the top down and has a crescent shape once blocked."

The instructions include data for making it in two styles and in three sizes. The pattern comes with charts while including written directions for each style. You'll discover that the overall sizing may also be adjusted with needle and yarn size.

Mary also notes: "Increases and decreases create interesting swirls in the fabric as the pattern progresses and are enhanced by the use of silk or tencel blends. Projects may be finished with either a loose or crocheted bind off method."

The photos you see here are of the lace style shawl knit with 550 yards of of Handmaiden Seasilk and size 4(US) needles. You can choose between 400 and 600 yards of yarns in either lace or fingering weight. The size is very adjustable.

I love the relative simplicity of this piece with its unique shape and options.

A real beauty.
