Jelena's original

Jelena Trutneva is a new (to us) designer that I happened upon when browsing Ravelry.  I thought her designs were rather unique and found them tremendous fun to knit.

You must must must must get the pattern from the designer's Ravelry web page here. What we have for you is the kit composed of yarn that will work beautifully for this piece.

The Design

This is called Garland and here is what Jelena writes:

This shawl is worked in one piece and consists of five repeating groups of four modular elements each which are joined using different techniques.

The 5-page pattern, written out as row-by-row description with a schematic and progress photos, is suitable for the attentive beginner with modular knitting experience or as portable project for the more experienced knitter.

Need to know how to CO and BO sts, pick up and purl/knit sts, CO using the cable CO method, k, k2tog and k3tog.

The Yarn and Colorways

We did not put together kits using the same yarn as Jelena used for her original.  You can see what we have in the inset photos on the top picture and again below that.

One needs about 530 - 558 yards (485 - 510 m) of a fingering weight yarn with a long color run.  We chose Amitola from Louisa Harding, Each ball is 80% wool/ 20% silk, with 273 yards (250m) / 50g.

1. Tick Tock is a wonderful blend of warm-ish colors, gold into rose into teal.  Striking! (sorry, sold out)

2. Sleepy Hollow struck me as perfect for those men (or women) in one's life who shy away from bright colors but who still deserve a lovely piece of knitwork.  From a fawn beige into a rich chocolate brown and then a charcoal into navy, this will please the most conservative dresser.

3.  Tinkerbell runs from cream into taupe into pink into rose, a cool mix of tones. (sorry, sold out)

Each kit will include two balls of the colorway of your choice (546 yards/ 500m).  If you would like a third (or more even) to make a larger piece, contact me and if we have it, we'll set you up with a special kit.
