Another new Mystery Knit Along (MKAL) that we are participating in with The Unique Sheep (TUS) and designed by Janine LeCras.
How it works:
Please note that here we are taking Pre-Orders: This means that your yarn will be dyed in the colorway of your choice and in the yarn base that you choose.
(You can find our policy here on shipping and pre-orders.)
There are optional beads (you decide if you want them or not).
This whole process takes time, of course, so figure your order might take four to six weeks to be ready. It will definitely come before the MKAL begins as long as you order it a month or more prior to the starting date. .
Here are the important dates:
The MKAL begins January 8, 2021.
Sing-ups will remain open through to January 8th. If you place your order prior to December 8th, can be assured that your order will arrive before the KAL. Ordering between December 8th and Janurary8th means we'll try our best, but no promises.
Our next KAL is inspired by the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Designed by Janine le Cras, this faroese shawl is worked in fingering weight yarn and can be knit in any of our fingering weight bases.
The pattern will be emailed to you in pieces. On the first day you'll receive the instructions for the first part of the pattern. In the following weeks you'll receive the rest of the pattern, bit by bit. But you won't see a finished picture of the shawl until the very end!
Weekly "clues" will be sent out either via email or sent to your Ravelry library. If you want the clues stored in your Ravelry library, make sure to let us know your Rav name when you order.
We'd love to have you join us on this knitting adventure!
Announcements and conversation will take place on the Ravelry group board so please join us there! The designer (Janine le Cras) and the dyers (Kelly Eells and Laura Lough) will be active on the Ravelry board and Facebook Group to answer questions about the pattern and cheer you on!
We here at Earth Faire also offer membership in this MKAL -- you can purchase the yarn with or without the beads in any of our exclusive signature colorways or indeed in any colorway that The Unique Sheep offers.
Note that the price varies depending on your yarn preference. Please make sure to select the correct option for the yarn of your choice.
About The Beads
Please note that the deadline for ordering beads with this kit is December 8th. There are simply so very many beads needed for the kits that we need extra time to be sure to have them in stock.
If you wish to add beads, plan on about 800 size 6/0 beads. Anyone who selects the bead option for their kit will get well more than that amount. If you have a preference for bead color, let me know. Otherwise I will choose for you.
Yarn and Colorways
You can see more data on the yarns offered as well as a bit more about our colorways on this web page here. And most of our colorways can be seen on these Flickr pages.
(**** Please note however that some of the special "EarthFaire" fingering weight yarns can not be available for this MKAL, alas. Some are not available to the dyers in cones and with the time constraints of dyeing so many orders to a deadline, it was felt that some just couldn't be part of this. The yarns that are possible for this MKAL are all listed in the drop-down menu.****)
We can offer two additional signature EarthFaire yarn you might like to choose:
Luna, 75% superwash Merino, 20% nylon, 5% Stellina. You will have a silver-toned stellina fiber.
Leeana (an EarthFaire exclusive, named after a silver and white moon dragon whose wings are flecked with silver and with a silver mane) is a 51/49 blend of cultivated silk/ merino (just a bit more silk than merino). The best of both fibers, this has some of the memory/bounce from the merino with the beautiful shine that comes from silk.
Price: the price varies depending on your yarn preference. Please make sure to select the correct option for the yarn of your choice.
And be assured that we are honoring the special 10% off that The Unique Sheep offered via the last clue of the last MKAL. Take a look at the last clue you received (Clue 8) for data on this.
Just some additional notes:
We have some colorways that have been dyed in circles (photos of most are on this web page).
If your choice of colorway is one of the circles, we have two wonderful options for you.
1. You might select 6 consecutive numbers from the photos and your yarn will be dyed in 6 skeins using those colors.
2. Or! You might like to get the entire circle as your colorway -- in this case, your yarn will be dyed in 12 half-skeins so you get the full 12-step circle.
Either is fine; either is tremendous fun! Just be sure to let me know as you check out.
Again, data on our special colorways can be found here as well as photos here.
And one additional note: we are going to assume you want a Gradiance set unless you tell me differently.
And if you want a colorway that is not listed on the drop-down menu above, select "Other" and let us know.
If you have any questions or would like any additional information, just contact me.
