A wonderful new design by Laura Nelkin, this beaded beauty is knit using a small amount of lace weight yarn.
Please be sure to get your pattern directly from Laura on her Ravelry page here or her website here. What we offer is some lovely yarn and beads to knit this with.
Here’s what you do with your small, precious, coveted skeins of yarn… you make a very special neck jegging!
One with a modified Shetland Lace border of course! The lace flairs out at the shoulders and snuggles up against the neck.
The Yarn and Colorways
No, we are not able to offer the same yarn that Laura used in her original. You can see what we have in the inset photo on the top picture and again below that.
What is needed is simply about 200 yards of lace weight yarn. We brought in a really delicious yarn from Malabrigo: Silkpaca.
Silkpaca is a lace weight yarn of 70% baby alpaca/ 30% silk. Each skein has 420 yards/ 50g so that will give you more than you need to make this lovely piece.
We have 3 colorways that manage to also look great together -- in fact, they would make a beautiful "fade."
1. Periwinkle is an almost-solid that lives up to its name. A lovely blue-violet (slightly more on the blue side than the violet side).
2. Violetas is a darker violet, the color of (you guessed it!) violets in the springtime.
3. Purple Mystery is quite deep and rich, a royal purple that has almost a glow to it.
All that is needed is about 416 size 8/0 beads. We will give you closer to 15g of beads (that is about 600 beads) so you'll have some extra.
I generally like beads that match to some degree the color of the yarn; strikingly contrasting beads could also look very good here.
If you have a preference on color, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
