A most lovely shawl, by Chrissy of Left Side Knits.

Granita lends itself to quite a bit of marvelous customization -- you will end up with a wondrous garment that is truly yours alone.

Here is how Chrissy describes it:

"Granita is a two-color striping shawl with lace inserts. It is knit in one piece from the center-top outward.

"With both charts and written instructions, knitters are able to choose the most comfortable way to follow the pattern. It can be easily customized by changing the number of chart 2 repeats. You could also choose to omit the stripes and knit the whole shawl with one color of fingering weight."

I love it when designers give us choices and the option to make a unique piece.

Yarn: Approximately 475 yards of fingering weight yarn - Testers used anywhere from 380 yards to 470 yards total, depending on gauge. This is broken up into Color A: 325 yards and Color B: 150 yards if you decide to go for the two-color shawl.

(Just as a by-the-way, I keep thinking of the Shepherd Sock yarns for this design -- I think they would be perfect.)

Finished Size is 56” across by 25” down spine.

Exact gauge isn't important but note that a change in gauge will change the amount of yardage needed. The ones you see here were done at 20 sts/32 rows = 4 inches in stockinette on US size 6 needles.

Beautiful!

Note that what we offer here is the hard copy of the pattern, printed out on heavyweight paper and slid into a sheet protector.

We hope you find some of our high-quality fingering weight yarns appealing to you and choose to get some to make this beauty at the same time.

This is beautiful piece. There are lace rows on WS rows in the lace portion, so that makes it a bit more complex but you could take this one successfully as a first lace project if it sings to you. The directions are written out as well as charted.

And the finished piece is lovely lovely lovely indeed!
