The Design

Here is what Nim Teasdale (the amazing designer) has to say about Groovellous

Groovellous is a fun, slightly mind-bending, increasing-decreasing elongated triangle. With stripes and garter ridges.

It uses two or three colours, and is suited to a range of weights from fingering to Aran. Long colour run yarns, handspun, gradients, variegateds and striping yarns are ideal, especially striped against a solid, or try two complementary solids for a bolder statement.

To retain the flexibility of the design, the pattern has been written as a formula, and a set of scales will come in handy to work out the turning point in your yarn.

It can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from charts with notes. Schematics are included.

Nim says that long color-run yarns and striping yarns are ideal in this piece, especially striped against a solid,  so what we put together are sets of a solid plus a yarn with a long color gradient.

She has created this design so that one can use any yarns from fingering weight to Aran weight by adapting the needles according to the preferred density of fabric.

Plus one can adapt the pattern to any yardage.

The one you see that she knit was done using 445 yards (410m) of an aran weight yarn.
