A beautiful design by Sivia Harding.

he Hanging Garden Stole is designed for lace to fingering weight yarn and takes 1,200 yards of yarn for the length designated in the pattern (12 repeats of the main lace chart).

The sample shown above right is done in Lorna’s Laces Helen’s Lace (50% silk, 50% wool, 1200 yds/4 oz.) in the Cedar colorway. This sample required one 4 oz. skein.

If a fingering weight yarn is used for the stole, fewer repeats of the lace chart may be required (and slightly less yarn, of course).

This pattern features a simple technique to add beads to the cast on and bind off rows. It requires 70 beads. Sivia recommends either size 6/0 glass seed beads, or a novelty bead such as the wavy leaf drop beads shown or Japanese megatama beads.

See below for a close-up of the edging with leaf beads -- pretty wonderful, don't you think?

++++++++

We offer for anyone purchasing 1200 or more yards of yarn (what is needed for the stole) will receive from us complimentary beads -- either 6/0s, megatamas, tear drops, or wavy leaves (our choice), selected to go with your yarn. [If you absolutely have a preference, let us know via the Comments section as you check out and we will do our best to try to accommodate your wishes.]

A wonderful project, a gorgeous garment -- delightful fun!
