I don't usually bring in heavier yarns for EarthFaire but these are just so lovely, I couldn't resist.
From Ella Rae, these are called Huenique, and seem to be in an Aran-to-Chunky range, with a suggested knitting gauge of 12 to 15 stitches to 4" on size 9 to 11 (5mm to 8mm) needles.
The fiber content is 50% wool/ 50% acrylic, with 175 yards (160m) to each 100g ball.
What makes Huenique unique (pun very much intended) is the colors. Rich and vibrant, these are quite striking indeed.
We brought in two colorways to try.
1. Secret Garden is a wonderful blend of woodland colors, with many greens and browns coming together.
2. Moulin Rouge is a celebration with variations of reds and oranges singing together.
Just as a btw, one idea I had for a design that either of these would look great in is Cat Bordhi's Warm All Winter.
And I have been knitting some gorgeous hats using these yarns and a solid companion, brioche technique. Once that I knit was Columbine but unfortunately gifted it away before I thought to take a photo.
Really enjoyed this yarn.
