This is a lovely beaded shawl from Boo Knits

The shawl is called Ictis. Here we quote its wonderful designer: "Inspired by the silhouette of St Michael’s Mount, this wide, triangular, shawl is knit in one piece from the top centre in simple bands of stocking stitch that alternate with bands of lace. It is a pattern that is simple enough for beginners to lace knitting and yet interesting enough for those with more experience.

"The addition of beads is optional and bead placement is shown in both the written instructions and on the chart.

"Designed to be versatile, Ictis can be made larger by repeating the 22 row pattern block and can be made in any yarn, though yardage will vary.

"Whether you want the luxury of pure silk cobweb or you long to be cosy in a heavier weight shawl this winter, this could be the pattern to fulfil your needs."

All that is needed is about 416 yards (380 meters) of lace weight or fingering weight yarn plus 175 beads to create a lovely glowing counterpoint to the yarn.

Now Bev suggests size 6/0 or 5/0 beads and those would work just fine, but I find that with lace weight yarn I much prefer the lighter smaller 8/0s -- they don't weigh down the fiber and are a more subtle look.

This is a lovely lovely piece -- to create, to wear, to give....
