This is a gorgeous piece that was designed by Hilary Smith Callis and really appeals to me.
Itineris is quite an interesting knit, fairly simple with great results.
Here is what Hilary wrote:
Itineris (Latin for voyage) is a modern triangular wrap with a unique construction.
The shawl is made up of three sections: a large triangle, a rectangular extension, and a smaller triangle to finish.
The knitting will take you different routes while a graphic stripe sequence forms intersecting pathways along the side. Knit all in Garter Stitch with patterns and shaping that are easy to memorize, Itineris is a fun knit that results in a striking finished piece.
Yarn and Colorways
These kits use the same yarn that Hilary used in one of her original pieces though in a somewhat different color combo.
The yarn is from Anzula and is called Cloud. This is a 80% superwash merino/ 10% cashmere/ 10% nylon. One skein has 575 yards (525m) per 100g.
What is needed is simply one skein of two colorways: 445 yards of the main color and 255 yards of the second. So one skein of each will give you well more than you need of each.
Hilary used a light pink (Mulberry) and a gray (Charcoal) in Cloud and also made a piece using deeper pink and a charcoal from Madeline Tosh.
Here are the colors we have for this kit:
We went with the richer Red Shoe instead of the pink. This is an almost-solid of red, overall a true red with very subtle additions of lighter almost-pink and darker almost-magenta.
Our gray is called Not Gravity, overall a delicate medium gray, lighter than the charcoal, with some subtle variations within the skein and occasional surprise streaks of lilac.
The pattern cost has not been figured into this and it does not automatically come with the kit.
Please plan to get the pattern via Hilary's Ravelry web page. This will give you a copy in your Ravelry library.
