A lovely design in beaded fingerless mittens by Stephannie Tallent, there are two versions of her lovely Josephine Mitts.
Both use sport weight yarn, though one is longer than the other and thus uses more yarn. Both incorporated brilliant 6/0 beads, one with two colors and one using one, and in distinctly different designs.
We here are offering kits which will give you enough yarn to make either one pair of Josephine Mitts or two pairs of Josephine in Diamonds.
The base cost you see for this kit covers the price for two skeins of the yarn of your choice.
Then there is a second drop-down menu under the top photo which gives you a choice about beads. Make sure to read the details below and make your choice.
And get the pattern(s) directly from Stephannie on her Ravelry pages, the Josephine In Diamonds here, and the other Josephine Mitts here.
Here is what Stepannie writes:
Josephine is an elegant beaded fingerless mitten with Art Deco-inspired motifs, named after Josephine Baker, the legendary nightclub performer.
I can picture her wearing these while exploring Parisien nightclubs after performing in her own show.
However, I don’t think we should forget the Josephine who worked for the French Resistance (and was awarded France’s highest military honors), or the Josephine who was asked to lead the Civil Rights movement after the assassination of MLK.
Our yarns are not the same as what Stephannie used in her original pieces. We show our kits in the inset photos on the top picture and again below that.
Each kit will include two skeins.
One skein is enough for Josephine in Diamonds so you will have enough for two pairs. Two skeins are needed for the Josephine Mitts, which are a longer set.
Andorra is 60% merino/ 20% highland wool/ 20% mohair with 185 yards/ 50g.
1. The first colorway we offer is Holly Red, a true solid red that is simple and lovely.
2. Also we have Ink Black, which as the name tells you is a solid black color, quite dramatic.
3. Blueberry is a medium blue color, again a solid.
4. Cloud Gray is what it sounds like, a lovely light gray that reminds me of kittens.
5. Sunshine Yellow is a bright and happy sunny colorway, perfect to liven up wintertime.
The Josephine in Diamonds pattern calls for size 6/0 beads, up to 276 for the larger size in one colorway and 60 in another.
The Josephine Mitts pattern lists 600 beads for the pair.
So we are offering you a choice of the beads you get (see the drop-down menu labeled "Kits").
One will give you the 600 beads (that's about 50 grams and we'll add a bit more) that you need for a pair of Josephine Mitts.
The other will give you enough beads for two pairs of the Josephine In Diamonds Mitts -- in other words 276 x 2 = 552 in one color of beads and 60 x 2 = 120 beads in another color (that's 46g plus 10g and again we'll give you some extras).
If you have an idea of what color beads you want, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
Make sure the drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out!
