Oh wow.

Yet another stunning beaded beauty!

To quote Kristi here: "My passion for lace, cables and beads come together in one crescent shape shawl! The luxurious texture colors of Malabrigo lace helped to showcase the star burst beaded cable flowers on a background of delicate lace. For a simple yet elegant finish, the beaded picot bind off!"

Written for either fingering weight or lace weight, this wonderfully unique concoction can be made in two sizes, small or large. Because gauge can vary from knitter to knitter (and isn't greatly important in shawls) the yarn range given here is fairly large -- Kristi estimates up a bit as too much yarn is far better than not enough:

If you wish to knit the small using lace weight yarn, figure on needing about 470 yards -- that will give you a finished shawl measuring approximately 60”x16” but be aware that that is variable depending on not only gauge but also material and blocking techniques. The large size (66”x18”) would need 525 yards lace weight yarn, while in fingering weight, figure on the small (64”x22”) as using 575 yards and the large (74”x26”) needing 700 yards.

For beads, it takes 240 or 256 beads for the picot bind off (depending on size) -- Kristi recommends size 8/0 for lace weight and 6/0 for fingering weight. In order to add beads to the body cables as well, you will need an extra 80 or 125. If you wish to also add beads for the border cables, figure on another 234/288 beads. That is a total of 554 for the small size or 669 for the large if you put beads in all those areas of the shawl.

The beads are all added via the crochet hook add-as-you-go method so make sure you have a very thin (0.6mm or 0.75mm) crochet hook.

Please note that what is being offered on this web page is the hard copy of the pattern, all nine pages printed out on heavy paper and slid into a sheet protector.

This is quite a unique piece, with the cables adding to a most lovely look.

I like, I like, I like.
