Quite a wonderful knit!

This new design by Laura Nelkin gives you so many choices for making the finished piece uniquely your own -- a marvelous way to use a pattern as a palette for glorious self-expression!

Here is now Laura puts it:

"Kinetik is a based on a chevron beaded lace stitch and is created by working two separate triangles and then joining them together with a center panel. There are detailed instructions for working Kinetik with A LOT, SOME or NO beads. The pattern includes links to videos for made especially for helping with the tricksy bits of this design."

Yup! You read that right. You can make this design with no beads at all if that is what appeals to you. Or you can make it with a some beads. Or you can load it down with a veritable jungle of glowing glass if you so choose.

All you need to start out is 420 yards of fingering weight yarn.

The original used two US size 5 [3.75 mm] 24 inch or longer circular ndls, (or size needed to obtain gauge). Note: you will find that using the sharper points of lace needles will be VERY helpful

If you decide to go with LOT of beads, then you'll need approximately 110 grams size 8/0 glass seed beads.

Or if you decide you only want some, make sure you have about 66 grams size 8/0 glass seed beads.

You'll also want to have a dental floss threader (for threading beads onto yarn) and a tapestry needle.

You also would find it useful to have some extra Sock Yarn and beads for “playing” around with the design a bit.

Finished Measurements: Approx. 56 inches wide at top x 22 inches long at center - Note if you used the ALL bead version, your shawl will block bigger than this due to the weight of the beads.

Kinetik was originally released as a Mystery KAL in January of 2012. Because of this there is a HUGE amount of advice and help for knitting this pattern in Laura's Ravelry group.
