Only one kit left in stock!

Another set of kits for this beautiful scarf by Svetlana Gordon .

I had fallen in love with the gorgeous version by KnittingSuzanne (Ravelry name) that she made using Schoppel's Crazy Zauberball.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

We had offered some kits a couple of weeks ago and they sold out super-fast.  So we have some new color combos here to offer for your knitting pleasure.

Important note: you will need to get the pattern directly from Svetlana on her Ravelry page.

The Design

Here is what Svetlana writes:

The pattern contains detailed row-by row instructions, schematic, charts and a photo tutorial.
This is a great project to use up odds and ends of yarn.

Difficulty level - medium.

This scarf is knitted seamlessly in one piece. The short-row technique is being used. Besides the indicated yarn that the sample was knit with, this motif may be worked from any other yarn weight as well. The thinner the yarn, the smaller the resulting leaf, the thicker the yarn, the larger the leaf.

The Yarn and Colorways

These are not the same yarns or colors that Svetlana used for her original piece but rather variations on those that Knitting Suzanne (Ravelry name) put together for her shawl as you can see on her Project Page for this design.  What we put together for this kit are not exact but will work nicely to help create a most striking shawl.

You can see our kit in the inset photo on the top picture and again right below that.

The main yarn is Crazy Zauberball.  This a yarn with long color repeats;  it runs 420m per 100g ball and is composed of 75% suerwash virgin wool + 25% nylon.  Here two strands of the main ply have been dyed individually and then twisted together for a crazy combination.  The end result is a self-striping multi-colored pattern, with a bold variegated design.

One skein is all that Suzanne used and one skein will be included in your kit. We no longer have the exact Crazy Zauberball colorway that was used by Suzanne in her original which was the inspiration for putting together this kit but instead we offer Herbstwind.

Herbstwind translates to Autumn Wind .  This colorway of Crazy Zauberball is much cooler and deeper, with teals and magentas as the primary colors and including some greys and browns as well.  Quite lovely.

For the solid color which makes up the borders (kind of like stained glass) Svetlana does not specify how much yardage is needed.  It is variable, depending on the size of the scarf you make.  Susanne used about 240 yards for hers, per her Project Page.

For the border colorway, I wanted to mirror the blue that Suzzane chose for hers.  So for this kit we offer ColintonLight Fingering, a 100% kid mohair yarn where 115 yards/ 50 gram knits up as a fingering weight and would work well with the Zauberball. We have a lovely Caribbean color that is a bright teal beauty and looks great with the Zauberball.

Two skeins would give you 230 yards, which is so close to what Suzanne used -- that is what will be in your kit.  (If you would like the "safety" of an extra skein, please contact us and if we have stock, we'll set you up with it.)

The Pattern

Just a reminder to get your pattern directly from here.  This will put the pattern in your Ravelry library and also ensure that you get any updates or corrections that might be added.
