Back in stock! Plus!! One more possible colorway to choose!
I really really really (really) like the designs of Ute Nawratil. I find them as a general rule to be unique and tremendous fun to knit, with clear instructions as well.
Here is one that she released very recently called Kontrastprogramm.
Please be sure to get the pattern from her Ravelry page directly. We simply have put together the yarns needed to knit this beauty.
Here is what Ute writes:
’Kontrastprogramm’ (sorry, there is no good translation) is a slightly irregular triangular shawl, worked from side to side.
Stockinette sections alternate with with pattern strips, using slipped stitches and tuck stitches (don’t worry if you never heard of those, they are easy).
The monochrome gradient invites you to make your own color experiments, but you should be careful to have enough contrast in the pattern segments. In order to emphasize the small patterns, I recommend a yarn weight of 380 m to 420 m per 100 g
The Yarn and Colorways.
We brought in one of the exact yarns that Ute used in her original piece -- the gradient yarn -- and supplemented it with some solid colored yarns.
You can see our kits in the inset photos lower righthand corner of the top picture on this page and again below that. The other photos are of Ute's original shawl, shown so you can get a good idea of the design.
The gradient yarn for both kits is from Schoppel, their Zauberball Crazy, with 75% Superwash Wool /25% Nylon and giving 459 yards per 100 gram ball.
This kit has the Zauberball colorway as Domino, a marvelous transition including white, gray, charcoal and black. Two balls will be in each kit.
The solid colors are from two different yarn companies.
The white is Herriot Fine from Juniper Moon Farm. Each skein is made up of 75% alpaca/ 25% nylon, with 461 yards (420m)/ 100g.
The black is Mirasol's Quilla, a luxury blend of 90% merino wool/ 10% mulberry silk, with 382 yards (350m)/ 100g skein.
Here the Zauberball is called Marsexperiment (for English, we would put a space in there to make two words: Mars Experiment). It combines black and grays with red in a wonderful combo.
The solid yarn are Shibui's Staccato, 70% superwash merino/ 30% silk and with 191 yards/ 50g skein.
Tango is a rich true red
Abyss is black.
Two of each colorway) 2 x red + 2 x black) will be included in each kit.
Note: If you would prefer two skeins of Staccato in white instead of black, it would also work very well in this design. Just let me know and I'll make the substitution for you.
A wonderful project.
As you see, we are offering the same basic color range that Ute used in her original shawl. If you would like to play around with some other colors, contact us. We have yarn for other possibilities as well.
