Simple and very lovely, this wrap design is intended for the advanced beginner.

Crisp outlines of cable stitches frame a back-drop of lace. This wrap is named after the corn fiber yarn in which it is shown here.

Jackie writes: "The cables are carried out to each edge of the wrap, preserving the overall flow of the curving lines.

"Normally I would not do fringe on a scarf, but this one called for it – I sort of imagined that the long oval shapes that frame the lace eyelets are like ears of corn, and the fringe is like the corn silk of the tassel. "

Finished size: 12" by 70" including fringe

Yarn: 600 yards fingering weight yarn

Gauge: 15 stitches = 4 inches over blocked cable lace stitch pattern

Suggested needles: US 7 / 4.5 mm

Stitch instructions: charted and written

Special techniques used and described: lace patterning on every row cabling without a cable needle attaching fringe

Sometimes it is marvelous to have a simple design with easy-to-follow directions. And when it is as lovely as this, go for it!
