Another lovely piece by Natalia Moreva of Kulabra Designs, this Leaves Shawl is quite unique and very interesting to knit.
Be sure to get the pattern directly from Natalia here. The cost of the pattern has not been added to the kit: What we offer is yarn specially selected to work with this design.
This shawl is worked sideways, from the corner, and can be knit any size.
If you only have one skein of MC, you won’t make it larger than the prototype on the photo: 10 repeats of short branches, and 1.5 repeat of the long branch at the other border.
Yarn and Colorways
We have not totally duplicated the yarn or colors that Natalia used in her original piece. We show you our kits in the inset photos in the top picture on this page and again below that.
We went with one variegated colorway plus a solid or almost-solid that was mirrored the basic color family but still had a definite contrast.
1. From the KFI Conllection is Indulgence Fingering, a hand-painted extrafine merino superwash wool 75% wool/ 25% nylon) with 494 yards/ 100g. This colorway is called Ibiza Sands and has dashes and dots and swathes of blues and greens on a cream background.
2. Gedifra's Lana Mia Uni, 80% superwash wool/ 20% nyulon, with 429 yards/ 100g. This is a solid Forest green, deep, cool, and rich.
1. Again, Indulgence Fingering, this time in a colorway named Carnival in Rio. On a cream yarn, there are dots and dashes and swathes of teal, purple, fuchsia, orange, and olive.
2. From Manos Del Uruguay, Fino is a 70% merino/ 30% silk with 490 yards/ 100g. The colorway is Amethyst Earring and is a tonal blend of deep purples and aubergine.
