A lovely piece by >Sivia Harding, that is great fun to knit.

Here is what she writes: I have been in love with the center-out structure of knitting for a long time. It gives me great pleasure to merge the center-start with the crescent form. In addition, this design features other interesting structural and textural details, such as garter stitch as a counterpoint to beaded lace, one of my favorite combinations.

Levana begins with a center-start square panel, from which wings emerge at right and left. The top and bottom of the center square, along with the tops of the side panels, are finished with a tiny, sweet beaded picot edging. On the bottom edges of the side panels, framing the beaded lace section, is a small, openwork lace pattern that I know you will love because of its easy, intuitive nature; every time you encounter this edge, whether it is on a right side or a wrong side row, it is always worked in the same way: k2, yo, k2tog.

Doesn't that sound like a real joy to knit?

All that is needed for this beauty is 380 yards (347 m) of a fingering weight yarn. Plus beads: 396 size 4 mm cubes or 6/0 round seed beads.

So we put together a kit. Taking our lead from Sivia's original, we went with a lovely green. It is not the same yarn that she used -- her pieces are shown here (all the photos © Barbara Gundle) to give you an idea of the design. Our yarn is in the inset photo on the top picture and again right below that.

This yarn is Huasco from Araucania, a wonderful plied yarn that gives great stitch definition. Each skein is 100% Extra Fine Merino Wool with approximately 450 yards per 100 grams.

The colorway is called Hunter and it is just that -- a great hunter green, a cool hue, just a smidgen on the blue side of green.

Each kit will include one skein of this Huasco in Hunter plus more than enough beads to make a wonderful piece.

If you have a preference for the beads you'd like in this kit, let me know. Otherwise, i will choose for you.

Note also that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. I know some knitters prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Sivia via her Ravelry web page. Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that. We also can email the pattern to you via email (just be aware that it is not automatic; I have to manually send it to you and generally do that right before shipping).

Just make sure that drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out.
