A gorgeous design by Nim Teasdale, Line of Sight plays with the marvelous effects of "illusion knitting."

The Design

Here is what Nim writes:

Line of Sight is a striped asymmetric triangle with a difference - the stripes change direction depending on your point of view.

The body of the knitting is worked in shadow knitting; basic stripes with a knit/purl pattern on the right side, edged by a pretty cable panel of slipped stitches and mini cables and slowly widening reverse garter border.

What I love about this technique is that it reminds me that sometimes there is no one right perspective, which is a nice reminder to tread more gently or soften a judgement.

*******

Nim writes that the shawl is ideal for showing off two contrasting skeins -- perhaps two gradients, or maybe a funky duet of solids, or a solid paired with a gradient yarn for dynamic results.

The sample shown on this page that was knit by Nim was knit in fingering weight yarn and used 385m (420y) of orange/brown (MC), and 370m (400y) of green (CC).

Do also note that the size of the shawl is adaptable and can be worked to any size.
