This pattern definitely sings to me.  Another beauty by Mary W Martin , the Love It or Leaf cowl is again an adventure in her unique reversible designs.

Be sure to get the pattern directly from the designer on her Ravelry page here.

Mary has set up special discount coupons for our knitters.  With purchase of the kit, we will send you a one-time code for 20% off the pattern (!!!) :-)

Needless to say, we have not figured the cost of the pattern into these kits.  What we have put together here are some lovely yarns that will work very nicely indeed for knitting this.

The Design

Here is what Mary writes:

This cowl is completely reversible with vines of leaves climbing up its height.

The leaf design is worked using a reversible slipped stitch technique that creates a drapey fabric that looks strikingly different on each side.

The Yarn and Colorways

Mary says that this cowl can be knit in any weight yarn, with any number of repeats.

We have put together kits using fingering weight yarn here.  These are not the same yarns (nor colorways) that she used in her original.  You can see what we have in the inset photos on the top picture (right-hand column) and again below that.

Mary says, The fingering weight cowl is very drapey and is beautiful worn over the shoulders or wrapped twice around your neck.   Sounds wonderful, doesn't it?

Further she says: This cowl is knit in the round. Two yarns are used. The MC yarn is used in the top and bottom edges.

The fingering weight cowl shown uses 550 yards of the Evergreen and 450 yards of the Natural.

So basically we need two contrasting colorways of yarn, with sufficient yardage for the size cowl shown on this page.

Our Kit:
1. For the "MC", to replace the darker Evergreen you see in the photos of Mary's original, we have a lovely gradiently changing colorway in Paradigm.  Paradigm is composed of 95% merino + 5% poly metallic -- it is a yarn with soft silver threads running through it.  The yardage is 660 yards/ 150g with loooooong color runs.

This colorway is called Olive Tapenade and is a rich cream gradually changing into a soft sage and then (what else?) olive. .

2. For our CC, we chose a yarn from Ella Rae, a new fingering weight yarn called Heathered Merino, with 80% fine superwash merino/ 20% nylon and 457 yards (417m)/ 100g skein.  The "heathered" aspect is a very subtle variation in the dyeing; it is really an almost-solid with a lovely depth to it.

This particular colorway is called Seaweed and is a deep rich juniper green.
