Another real beauty from Kristina Vilimaite of AnimaKnits.
Here is how the amazing designer describes Lustrous:
This shawl will get you wrapped in nature — just watch while you knit how roots and leaves appear, and strive towards the light to go to seed.
The shawl is worked sideways starting with one side of the triangle. Hence, the shawl grows progressively faster as you have fewer and fewer stitches in a row, fuelling your motivation to finish swiftly. The shawl is knit in one piece — the borders are worked as you go. If desired, use beads to highlight the roots and seeds.
The Yarns and Colorway
The yarn we have for our kit is not the same as what Kristina used. You can see them in the inset photo on the upper lefthand corner of the top picture and again below that. The other photos (all by Hubay-Németh Natália) are there to show you the design.
We have put together kits using Madeline Tosh's Tosh Mo Light, 80% superwash merino + 20% kid mohair, with 420 yards/ 100g skein.
We were able to get some beauties in but in very limited quantities.
Your kit will include one skein, enough for the Small sized (roughly 51" x 22") shawl. If you would prefer a larger version, just contact us and we'll work with you to set something up if we possibly can.
We have a few colorways you can choose among, all either almost-solids or tonal blends:
1. GraceNotes is a pretty special colorway to my eye. On a soft gray background are lovely speckles and dashes of brights -- neon orange and gold, violet and teal. (Soirry, sold out.)
2. Wino Forever is a tonal almost-solid of bright violet with subtle variegtions.
3. Kenobi is a tonal neutral with variations of gray from very paile to just -shy-of-charcoal.
4. Anime Dreams is another quite intriguing one with warm tonal blend of sorbet colors -- peach and apricot with just a few speckles and dashes of deeper tones including gold and green and teal.
You will notice from some of the photos of Kristi's original shawl that she chose to use beads of a decidedly contrasting color.
There are lots of possibilities.
If you have a preference, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
Each kit will include a minimum of 399 size 6/0 beads, enough for the Small size.
The instructions for this lovely shawl are both written and charted.
The kit will not automatically include the pattern. I know some knitters prefer to get it directly as a PDF file of the pattern from Kristina via her Ravelry web page. In that case, set the Pattern drop-down menu to "No Pattern Needed."
Alternatively, if you would like a printed copy, please make sure the drop-down menu is set to that. It is 12 pages.
We also can email the pattern to you via email (just be aware that it is not automatic; I have to manually send it to you and generally do that right before shipping your kit.
Just make sure that both drop-down menus are set as you would like before you check out.
