Malabrigo has announced their first ever KAL! It is not a Mystery KAL; it is based on the lovely pattern by Joji Locatelli, her Odyssey Shawl, available for free here on Ravelry.
Joji writes: Odyssey is a crescent shaped shawl in 3 colors of medium-weight yarn. Medium weight means DK, or worsted, or even Aran! The good news is that you knit it up super fast.
Each color section ends with a lace band that features striking big eyelets and wavy texture.
Three skeins of Malabrigo's Dos Tierras make up the kit. Dos Tierras is a 50% merino/ 50% baby alpaca with 210 yards (193m) per 100g skein. Malabrigo put together three special (and new) colorways developed specifically for this KAL.
They wrote to me, "The pattern does call for a US8 (5mm) needle but it is important that you do not try to reach the gauge on the original pattern because if you do, you may run out of yarn. A good gauge would be 17 stitches per 4 inches after blocking. If you knit loosely you may want to consider a thinner needle. The final shawl will be a beautiful piece, a little smaller than Joji’s original pattern. "
The colors developed for this KAL are Alice (a lovely tweed-ish medium blue/light blue), Fairy Tale (a speckled peach with amber and deep blue dots and dashes), and Neverland (a similar peach slightly tweeded with somewhat darker and lighter strands).
There are now a few shown on this web page of a shawl knit in these colorways.
Your kit will include one skein of each of these colorways.
Participants will need to use the hashtag #malabrigoKAL to post pictures across all social media channels in order to be eligible for prizes.
Of course, to win a prize the garment has to be knit using Malabrigo Dos Tierras.
There is a “Sign Up Form” in the link below that is needed in order to sign up for the KAL. They require either a Facebook Name, an IG account or Ravelry ID because the folks at Malabrigo would like to see the progress of the winners posted on their social media. This is so that they can share across their own social media channels as well. All the information will be confidential and will not be used for any other purpose except for the KAL communication.
Here is the sign-up link.
