By Marnie MacLean, Mangrove is a stunning shawl with striking stitchwork.
You must get the pattern from Marnie's Ravelry page; what we offer here is the yarn as described below only.
The shawl is worked from the top down, center out, increasing every 6th row through the charts. It has been designed so it will have 7 segments total making it slightly larger than a half-circle shawl and is written so that should you run short of yarn there are lots of modifications that will make this a real masterpiece regardless.
As written the shawl design does not include beads. However we are offering you the choice of getting some or not -- details below.
The shawl as you see on this page was knit using about 620 yards of fingering weight yarn We are offering kits here using a differrent yarn than the designer originally knit with but still staying within the autumnal range.
The photos of the finished shawl are used with permission (© Marnie) and are here to show you the design.
From Crystal Palace (alas, out of business) came this fingering weight yarn called Allegro Lace. This is a 100% merino, with 225 yards(206 meters)/ 50g skeins.
The colorways are almost-solids, a type of spinning called worsted and when you look at each closely you will see that they are composed of a melange of colors. This adds a lovely depth.
We have these colors to offer for this kit.
Sunflower: very similar to the look Marnie achieved in her original, this is the deep colors of sunflowers and goldenrod and mangos.
Butternut : Named for the squash (though really, it is more the color of an Acorn Squash to my eye), this is a rich amber, an orange that has a real richness. (Sorry, sold out)
Pea Pod is a green with yellow to it, not quite an olive but definitely a green one sees in Autumn.
Cornflower is a cool song of autumn, the clear blue of twilight or of a lake or the cornflowers growing on the sides of the road. (Sorry, out of stock)
Each kit will include three skeins of your color choice giving you 675 yards.
No, not part of this pattern. Though I can see adding them to the bind-off to a great effect. Or maybe adding some to the lace inserts within the shawl itself.
We are offering the option of getting beads, about 240 size 6/0 beads (20 grams) in a colorway to mirror the yarn color you chose or perhaps to contrast with it.
Reminder: get the pattern from Marnie's Ravelry page; this kit contains the yarn only.
