An absolutely gorgeous shawl by Anna Victoria, this is a perfect palette for this Gradiance set from The Unique Sheep.
An important note: you must (!) get the pattern from the designer directly on her Ravelry page. We do not carry it directly.
Here is how Anna describes this lovely small shawl:
Crescent top down shawl with star shape adorning the nape. Beads scattered through glisten like drops of water.
Maris Stella means the Star of the Sea - there is a beautiful 8th century hymn called Ave Maris Stella - Hail Star of the Sea.
We are not offering in this kit the exact yarn that was used in knitting the original. As all that is required is 400m of yarn (that's about 440 yards, + or -), and can be knit in either laceweight , 4ply or even DK, we have chosen this beautiful Gradiance set from The Unique Sheep for this piece.
Note that Anna's original shawl was shades of blue. We show it in red using the magic of PhotoShop. It is not exactly how it will look but should give you a better idea and a starting point for your imagination.
The yarn is called Sol and fiber-wise it is 75% superwash Merino, 20% nylon, 5% Stellina. The merino is springy and delicious, the nylon adds strength.
And the Stellina is a non-metal fiber, in Sol a gold-tone.
So you will have a lovely sparkle to your knitted fabric, which stands elegantly against the dyed colorways, without looking garish or overwhelming the whole.
The colorway was named after the apple of the story of Snow White -- half red and half green -- which the witch offered our heroine. Kelly dyed a circle of colors we named Poison Apple that ranged from reds into greens and back again.
For this shawl, we chose four skeins from the red side of the circle. It ranges from a deep gold into red-orange into true red into deep magenta.
We show it in the inset photo on the top picture and again below that.
The piece uses about 929 beads, although beading is optional.
Your kit will include more than that many of size 6/0 beads.
We might make them beads of strong contrast -- golden beads would look awesome. Or beads that match to some degree a tone of the colorway.
If you have a preference, let me know. Otherwise I will choose for you.
Just a reminder to get your pattern directly from here. This will put the pattern in your Ravelry library and also ensure that you get any updates or corrections that might be added.
BTW, these pattern instructions are charted only.
