Here is another result of "playing" with Sivia Harding's Moonrise Necklace.

The "extra" technique has to do with making a wave of texture or color, so that the piece starts one way, moves to another texture or color in the center, and ends like the beginning.

In this piece, we started with smaller beads, in crystals and silver hues, adding some daggers and stars as well for a look of glowing-ness. Then we gradually added blues in fire polish crystals, larger daggers, and other dramatic beads, until the center is quite a riot of texture and blues. Following these, we went back to the silvers and crystals to end up.

We are calling it Sun and Stars to mirror the idea of silvery starlight yielding to the blues of daytime.

Each kit will include the silver and crystal beads in a separate packet from the larger blues and at least 20 yards of either Kreinik metallic polyester silver thread or silk thread. Oh! And a magnetic clasp!

Do note that beads go in and out of stock and each mixture will be somewhat different, though the overall look will be very similar indeed.

[One idea on using the magnetic clasps -- courtesy of Catie -- the strength of the magnet can break the thread, though some of these are not quite as powerful as others (it is always a better idea to open the magnetic clasp with your fingers rather than pulling on the thread). Obviously, should the thread break if pulled on, you necklace could unravel. So this tip is: Complete the necklace, and finish off the ends. Then attach a SEPARATE piece of thread, and use THAT to sew the magnetic clasp to your jewelry. That way if the thread breaks, your necklace is saved, and you can just attach a new thread.]

This was fun to make and quite dramatic to wear. We are very pleased with it.

The pattern is an expanded variation on the original one that Sivia wrote for the Moonrise Neckpiece, so if you have it already, we offer the option of getting the kit by itself.

Note that the kit will not automatically include the pattern. We offer three options. I know some of you might already have made other necklaces that are made along the same lines, the only real changes being the beads and the colors. If you feel you do not need another pattern, simply choose "No Pattern Needed."

If you would like a printed copy, please make sure the "Pattern" drop-down menu is set to that.

We also can email the pattern to you, though I have to do it manually and usually send it right before I mail the kit (please be patient). Just make sure that drop-down menu is set as you would like before you check out.

BTW, if you would like a similar look done with other colors, just email us first. If we have the beads to do it (and believe me, the chances are very high that we do) then we'll work with you to put together your very own designed kit.

Fun!
