I fell in love with this design in cowl form by Marnie MacLean. Mohtra Stewart requires only one skein of fingering weight yarn (between 400 - 450 yards) as the designer takes you in great detail through all you need to do to knit this cowl decorated with beautiful butterflies (or moths) in striking stitchwork.

The pattern gives both charted and written-out directions.
The designer writes:
These cowls are worked from the bottom, up. The pattern is written to be worked flat and seamed, though the knit stitch at the start and end of every row could be eliminated and the pattern could be worked in-the-round, if preferred. Working the cowls flat makes them easier to block, but is not required.

Yarn and Colorways
As these need only between 400 and 450 yards of fingering weight yarn, we chose an almost-solid colorway to offer here. The yarn we have is not the same as what Marnie used in her original. We show ours in the inset photo bottom left-hand portion of the top picture on this page and again below that.
From KFI, this is their Indulgence Kettle Dyed Fingering. This is a marvelous feeling yarn of 75% wool + 25% nylon. Each skein has 494 yards (450m)/ 100g.
The colorway we chose for this is Wisteria, a very gentle hue that sings of springtime even in the depths of winter.
Bead Option
No, the pattern does not add beads but there are quite a few places where beads could add a marvelous enhancement.
If you wish to get beads, we offer that as an option via the Kits drop-down menu. Twenty grams of size 6/0 beads will give you roughly 240 beads to play with and add where and when you wish.
If you have an idea of what color beads you would like, tell me. Otherwise I will choose for you.
